Red Howler Monkey

Description

The Red Howler Monkey is a large, reddish-brown monkey native to the forests of Central and South America. It is famous for its incredibly loud howling calls, which can be heard from several kilometres away and are used to communicate with other members of its group. Red Howler Monkeys mainly eat leaves, fruits, and flowers, spending much of their time high in the trees. They have strong limbs and a long, prehensile tail that helps them move through the forest canopy and maintain their balance. These monkeys play an important role in their ecosystem by helping to spread seeds as they eat fruit.
